
Gabriel Spinks
Gabriel (he/they), a native of Minneapolis, is a distinguished educator and advocate. Their exceptional career is marked by a strong commitment to student empowerment and community engagement. With a diverse background in education, advocacy, and civic leadership, Gabriel has consistently championed educational opportunities and amplified student voices.
Gabriel’s academic journey includes a degree in Social Science from Metropolitan State University. This, coupled with their expertise in legislative affairs and governance, has equipped them to serve as a board member and legislative specialist at Students United. In this capacity, they have been instrumental in advocating for college students at local, state, and federal levels, fostering student advocacy, and facilitating constructive dialogues with university officials.
Gabriel also brings extensive experience in community engagement and youth development, having served as a tutor, Youth Worker with Community Education, and urban scholar with the City of Minneapolis. In these roles, they facilitated enriching activities for youth, engaged in community roundtables and contributed to grant applications and strategic planning efforts.
They are driven by a passion for education, social justice, and community empowerment and continue to be a driving force in creating positive change for the next generation.
At Bridgemakers Gabriel is responsible for collaborating to transform our youth-serving systems – particularly the education system – in alignment with human needs through policy work. They will lead efforts to build a nationwide coalition of youth leaders and organizations, develop strategic partnerships, and advocate for policies that promote equity, justice, and opportunity for all young people.
