Julian Spencer
Julian is a multi-faceted youth leader and generational cycles breaker with experience in juvenile justice advocacy, mentorship of young people, and civic leadership. At Bridgemakers, he co-led a transformational research project and campaign to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline and is a primary facilitator of our youth-facing Changemakers program.
Outside of Bridgemakers, Julian serves on the Hennepin County’s Youth Advisory Board, co-chairs the Youthprise Policy fellowship, and participates in a fellowship for the Legal Rights Center’s End Youth Prisons campaign. His advocacy ranges from presenting at national education conferences to testifying in the Minnesota House and Senate. Julian’s drive for change came from confronting adversity at a young age; he was expelled and faced justice system involvement in sixth grade. After becoming a father at 16, he became an advocate for young people facing similar struggles.
